Providing candidates with the knowledge for the safe use of handheld equipment, including all the usual tools in your toolbox or workshop. Being able to create a safe system of work, understand the need for accident prevention and control will enable candidates to work safely with the awareness of the dangers from handheld equipment.

This training course is suitable for supervisors and managers who need to provide on-site toolbox talk briefings. You will learn the best and most effective ways to present toolbox talks, allowing you to deliver information in a succinct, unambiguous way.

Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome

Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) is caused by exposure to vibration and is often attributed to the use of power tools. The effects can be irreversible and include numbness in the fingers, muscle weakness and white finger (which can cause severe pain in the affected fingers). Our HAVS classroom-based course will teach you how to recognise the symptoms, and what you (and your employer, if applicable) can do to reduce exposure to it. Also available online at Kentra Online is an HAVS appreciation course.

Cable Avoidance Tool Training

Cable Avoidance Tools (also known as a CAT and Genny) are utility detectors. These clever machines are used to detect signals potentially being omitted from cables underground. Signals radiate naturally from metallic services and the CAT works in combination with a Genny to detect the unique signal however they can have their limitations, which anyone using them must be aware of. Our CAT and Genny training will give you and your staff the skills necessary to use the equipment effectively. So before you break ground it’s best to check whether any underground services may potentially be in the way and can be detected thus ensuring you can dig safely.
