Crane And Lifting Operations Training

If you’re looking to expand your skillset, upskill some of your team so they can be more versatile, or simply ensure everyone’s training is up-to-date, Kentra has the industrial training courses you need. We offer a variety of courses for Cranes and Lifting Operations, from practical instruction needed by crane operators and slingers, to everything for supervisor and appointed person training. We also have courses for specific crane types, including…

Crawler Crane

Crawler Crane

Crawler cranes are the heavy-duty machines needed to lift the largest of loads. They’re different from their wheeled crane counterparts. Learning to operate them safely and efficiently requires bespoke training.

Mini Cranes

Mini Cranes

Whether you call them compact, miniature, or spider cranes, these small machines are versatile and effective, perfect for confined spaces and areas with restricted access. Our training course teaches you everything you need to know to tame these mechanical arachnids.

Mobile Crane

Mobile Crane

Whether it’s a crawler-mounted, a rubber-tyred carrier, or a hydraulic-powered crane, the versatility of the mobile crane makes it a very valuable piece of equipment. Our training course teaches all the practical skills and knowledge you will need to operate it safely.

Overhead Cranes

Overhead Cranes

The horizontal heroes of the construction world, overhead cranes are the perfect way to avoid moving heavy loads through aisles or across floors. Whether you are using an industrial crane, or an overhead traveling crane, the proper training is essential to ensure safety and efficiency.

Whether you’re a slinger, signaller, a supervisor, or an appointed person, training in lifting operations is just as vital as crane use itself. Our courses go hand-in-hand to ensure you’re fully versed in both sides of the machine – operating it, and communicating with or managing those who do. We offer operator courses in…

Slinger Signaller

Slinger Signaller

Completing a job safely and successfully requires precise and clear communication. As a slinger signaller, your task is to ensure that loads are as safe in the air as they are on the ground. Proper training is vital to ensure this role is fulfilled perfectly.

Crane Lift Supervisor

Crane Lift Supervisor

Overseeing the effectiveness and safety of your team is a crucial role. Our crane supervisor training ensures you are ready to shoulder the responsibility and oversee an efficient operation helping create a safe environment.

Appointed Persons

Appointed Persons

As the Appointed Person on-site you’re responsible for ensuring all lifting operations are properly planned by a competent person, appropriately supervised, and carried out safely. That’s no small responsibility. Our specialist training course ensures you know every box that needs ticking while having all the practical and theoretical expertise needed to plan and undertake lifting operations.

Given how often slings and shackles need to be inspected and LOLER certificated, the costs soon mount up. Why repeatedly spend money sending your equipment away to be accredited when you could do it all in-house for a fraction of the price? Our training can teach you how to issue your own Reports of Thorough Examination, eliminating a big expense and putting you in complete control of your equipment certifications.

Using Equipment For Lifting Operations

There’s a lot of machinery used in everyday lifting operations, even though that isn’t its primary function. Excavators, for example, can be used as cranes, while a Telehandler can be used for carrying loads beneath its forks.

These additional activities are not covered by the standard Excavator or Telehandler tests, so if you are using your machinery for secondary functions like this it’s important to ensure you have the training needed. Get in touch for more information on how we can ensure your team has all the training and support they need.

The Perfect Time To Invest In Team Training

Let’s Talk Training…

Accessing Equipment

Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPs) are incredibly useful for a range of tasks. There are four different types of MEWP that serve a variety of functions to suit different needs. Ensuring you have proper training in the type of MEWP you’re operating is vital, and if you need to know how to safely use all of them, we’ve got you covered while you’re up in the clouds.

Static Vertical Scissor Lifts - 1A

Static Vertical Scissor Lifts - 1A

This vertical Scissor Lift is driven into position, as it can’t be driven elevated.

Once in place, it is the perfect platform for working at height in a limited space. The platform is a safe alternative to ladders particularly when power tools are being used.

Mobile Vertical Self-Propelled Scissor Lifts - 3A

Mobile Vertical Self-Propelled Scissor Lifts - 3A

Self-propelled Scissor Lifts give you the best of both worlds; easy access to high working environments, and mobility that allows equipment to seamlessly move from one point to another whilst being driven elevated if required.

Static Boom - 1B (Trailer-Mounted)

Static Boom - 1B (Trailer-Mounted)

The Static Boom can not travel under its own power but can be mounted on trailers or vehicles for transportation over longer distances.

Once in place, the platform offers the same benefits as the mobile boom for working in hard-to-reach places.

Mobile Booms - 3B

Mobile Booms - 3B

Mobile Booms are an excellent way to get a bird’s eye view.  This machine not only goes up but can reach out to where you need to work.

This self-propelled boom can also drive while elevated using the controls in the basket, keeping you safe and secure while you’re flying high.

Knowing how vital it is to ensure you’re fully prepared for your working environment, whether it’s on the ground or in the air, we also offer additional training courses for Mobile Tower Scaffold, Harness and Ladders, and essential Working at Heights courses.
